Dear Members,

This year BYD is looking for more exciting projects and wants you to be part of the team. The entire Board is going to be renewed, with plenty of roles to apply for and plenty of opportunities for you to get involved. New positions are being created and we need motivated, creative and curious people. BYD offers networking opportunities, priority in registering for conferences and seminars, and, most importantly, learning through practice and new skills.

Are you interested in understanding the world that surrounds you? Do you want to understand the political agenda, economics crises or to know more about European and international policies and law? Then get involved and become an active member of BYD.

What do we do?

BYD interacts with various fields of politics and as dynamic organisation, BYD organize talks and debates, visits of public and private institutions and high-level meetings with professionals. We not only provide our members with the necessary tools to understand the world that is surrounding us, but we also give them the opportunity to get offers for collaborating with our partners. These experiences not only helps to acquire experiences but also brings an added value to your CV. Being part of an organisation also increases your chance to be noticed by employers and your are more likely to be hire for a internship.

NOV 17 2015 – Visit to the Embassy of Lebanon


Visit to the Embassy of Lebanon 

BYD is proud to invite your to a visit to the Embassy of Lebanon in Brussels. The ongoing war in Syria has forced more than 4 million refugees to flee Syria and seek shelter in neighbouring countries and beyond. According to the UNHCR, there is an estimated 1.3 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, many of whom living in precarious conditions. This situation poses great challenges for the Lebanese governement as well as the internationl community. Here is your chance to meet with a high representative from Lebanon and learn more about the refugee crisis and the Lebanese current situation.
The visit will last from 17:00 until 19:00.

Belgian Youth Diplomacy has the pleasure to invite you for our Meet & Drink on Thursday 17 September at 19:00 at the El Cafe in Ixelles (Brussels)

For this edition, we will have the pleasure to have Jef D’Hollander among us, Expert International Trade @ AGORIA, who will give us some thoughts on TTIP and its impact on the technology industry in Belgium.

It will moreover be the opportunity for members & non-members to get to know BYD and its board members. We will also present our upcoming activities for the academic year 2015-2016 !

The Board of Directors of Belgian Youth Diplomacy (BYD) is looking for a new Communication Officer (UNPAID Position & NO Internship) to join the team of Belgian Youth Diplomacy:

Job description:

As a Communication officer, you will be responsible for the overall communication of the organization. More particularly, your job will consist of managing the official website (both content & format); updating the website with new events organized by BYD and partner organizations; writing a short feedback after the BYD events and managing written articles of (non-) members.

You will also be responsible for the management of our social media accounts, requested is an update on a regular basis of the Facebook page and of the Twitter account of BYD with our activities and similar interesting think tank events organized in Brussels or/and around Belgium.

Your Profile:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, fluency in French
or Dutch. Other EU languages is an asset;

• Flair for communication, branding, marketing and design; in particular you
should be able to have an attention for details;

• Experience in communication is not necessary, but would be seen as an

• Ability to work with WordPress and Mailchimp preferred;

• Great affinity with social media channels like Facebook and Twitter;

• Higher Education preferred (in progress or graduated) and being passionate
about International Relations and Diplomacy

• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and maintain a
professional approach;

• Able to join two times per month board meetings in Brussels.
